One would have to go back a decade to find a Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon as strong as the 2007. Sweet black currant fruit intermixed with unsmoked, high class cigar tobacco, creosote, herbs, and licorice are found in the complex aromatic profile. In the mouth, the sweetness of the tannin, and the exuberance of the pure red and black fruits gently touched by oak and herbs are admirable. This deep, lush, full-bodied wine should drink nicely for 15+ years. Following a significant replanting, it is good to see this property come back so strongly. Both 2006s, which seemed closed last year, have performed far better this year. Moreover, it appears 2007 may be the greatest vintage at this estate since the mid-1990s classics such as 1994 and 1995.
